Dustin M. Jussila Memorial Scholarship

At the end of each school year, the Cushing Band Boosters award a scholarship(s) to a senior(s) in the Cushing High School Band to help with the expenses of continuing their education, known as the DUSTIN M. JUSSILA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.

DUSTIN JUSSILA was the Director of the Cushing Middle School Bands from 2020-to 2021. He previously taught in Mustang, Blanchard, and Saginaw, MI. Dustin earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education from Oklahoma City University, and also attended Central Michigan University where he studied with master percussionist Robert Hohner. He was a member of the internationally acclaimed Robert Hohner Percussion Ensemble, recording with that group on several albums. Mr. Jussila performed with the Oklahoma Philharmonic Orchestra, Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra, Enid Symphony, and the Midland Symphony Orchestra.

In his short time with the Cushing Bands, Dustin Jussila left an indelible mark on the students and the program, with his infectious enthusiasm for creating music. He will always be remembered for his passion for the students in the band program.​
